The Geissele Automatics URG-I Near Clone Complete AR-15 Upper Receiver in DDC replicates the Upper Receiver Group Improved fielded by USASOC, pairing a 10.3" cold hammer forged barrel with the Geissele MK16 handguard built to that program's specification.

USASOC specified a government-profile barrel and carbine-length gas system for this platform after extensive testing, balancing weight against stability and reducing felt recoil and wear compared to a carbine-length system. The MK16 handguard's M-LOK slots run across multiple surfaces so lights, lasers, and grips can be mounted exactly where needed without offset mounts, and the integrated QD sling sockets skip the added weight of separate hardware.
Because this 10.3" barrel measures under 16", this complete upper is intended only for an AR pistol or a legally registered short-barreled rifle — attaching it to a standard rifle lower without the correct configuration violates federal law.
Geissele Automatics built its reputation on the Hi-Speed National Match trigger, later adopted by U.S. Special Operations for a select-fire variant, and now applies that same quality control to complete upper receivers for warfighters, competitors, and civilian shooters alike.

Giessele 10.3 U.R.G.I

One of the best uppers on the market! I have very little gripes with this upper. One gripe is that it’s pretty expensive. In the long run I think it’s worth it; but it’s definitely expensive. Other than that this upper is a fantastic! Super solid build and made for hard use. I have put around 600-800 rounds through it with no problems. The Daniel Defense 10.3 barrel is really accurate for being as short as it is. My best groups sizes were
1 1/8 to 1 1/4 inches at 100 yards. The 4 prong Surefire flash hider works great and definitely will catch the eye of those cloners at the range. The charging handle is great and I won’t be switching it out, but I still prefer the Radian Raptor by the slightest margin. The braided buffer spring pared with the H3 buffer worked great and is nicely included. The rail is my favorite M-LOK rail on the market! Super strong and tough yet lightweight. Overall a fantastic upper! Highly recommended

I’ve had this upper for almost a year now. It’s a true blast to shoot. If you want a quality bomb proof upper, don’t sacrifice as the Geissele USASOC is the way to go.
Not what I expected.

One year review for Giessele 556 10.3 near clone. Purchased 4/19 on sale direct from PA. As usual, no issues with PA AT ALL.
However, this particular upper is a disappointment. Have to admit, no mechanical/ cycling issues but accuracy is just not there, at the very best you are going to hit 10" gong at 100 yards if you are lucky, heavier ammo actually performs worse in this upper. I have sent it back to Gisele to be checked and, of course, no issues was found all "within" specs. My home made builds with comparable length BA barrels do a LOT better than this thing. Suppressor adapter as sexy as it looks constantly sticks to my Surefire suppressor after short periods of use making it difficult to remove, again no issues with the regular commercial Surefire muzzle devices. Bottom line unless you really want a "near clone" your money is best spent on something else.
